Lead Name (required)
Ken Preiser/WhaleGoddess
(my background is in coding/NFT development, not ice cream e-commerce)
Project Name (required)
Wassie Ice Cream
Elevator Pitch (required)
Who doesn't love ice cream? We should curate some Wassie themed ice cream flavors and distribute them to Wassie holders and beyond!
Project Description (required)
Curate, purchase, and distribute pint sized Wassie themed ice creams. Different flavors and rarities (some exclusive to Wassie hodlers). Wassie holders also can claim ice cream slips (potentially an airdropped/claimed NFT), where 1 slip = 1 special edition ice cream.
Set up an LLC where the treasury/OG team participate in revenue sharing.
Set up an Ice Cream Treasury Multisig
How does your project add value to the ByWassies community? (reqired)
Expands the memification and knowledge of the mythical Wassie, establishes a profitable Wassie business in that feeds back to the treasury
Funding Request (required)
Note that the estimates get broader the further into the future we go... in the short term I am requesting the formation of a 2/3 multisig filled with $30,000 to begin Phase 1: Discovery.
Phase 1: Discovery Phase (1-3mo) $30,000
Phase 2: Private sale online development (2 months) $30,000
Phase 3: Execute private sale, start packaging ice cream (1 month) $60,000
Phase 4: Get in the flow/expand ecommerce site (3-9 months) $60,000-$180,000
Phase 5: Physical development (6mo-2yr) $50,000-$350,000
Financials and Task Breakdown (required)
Phase 0: We are here (?? mo) $0 USD
- Brought up the idea
- Made what you are now reading
- No LLC or profit sharing structure defined
Phase 1: Discovery Phase (1-3mo) $30,000
I'm looking to begin hiring team members in the latter end of this phase in mainly part time capacities:
- Business Developer (beginning of phase 1, part time capacity initially)
- Product designer (beginning of phase 1, part time capacity)
- Taste/Aesthetics expert (middle of phase 1, hourly/contract work)
- Web designer (middle of phase 1, hourly/contract)
- Web dev with e-commerce background (end of phase 1, full time)
- I would ask that the OG team support with Wassie artwork for the ice creams, to keep the branding aligned. If not, we will hire a team of 1-2 artists for labeling
Salary for me would be $6000/mo to work on managing an ice cream business, equating to approx $37.5 USD/hr for a "full" workmonth of 30 days. I'd ask for the same hourly salary or more for any contributor
Goals of Phase 1:
- An LLC
- Clearer roadmap
- Quotes from vendors and a narrowed down list of favored vendors
- Ice cream vendors, ice cream manufacturing vendors, shipping supplies
- Salaries agreed upon
- Team size "settled" for Phase 2
- Demo artwork put on a website describing the initiative
- A cute but informative powerpoint summarizing the initiative to the community
Phase 2: Private sale online development (2 months) $30,000
- Determine "drop mechanic" of how Wassies will "benefit from hodlership." One idea is each Wassie can claim 1-3 pints of ice cream (delivered to XYZ countries)
- Determine vendor of choice
- Determine user flow and accepted payment paths
- Infer the changes in demand we expect to see in redemptions/purchases of ice cream
- Web design
- Choose flavors
The sale could be structured as a secondary NFT collection "Wassie Ice Creams" like BAYC Mutant Serums (ERC1155), where each NFT has different claiming/purchasing rules.
In parallel we are continuing our product and business evaluations and improving the product/branding. There is also logistical homework such as finding the most efficient packaging for a pint of ice cream.
Goals of Phase 2:
- vendor of choice
- Location/Distro center of choice
- test launch of ice cream e commerce site
- Agreed upon revenue split of the primary sale
- Another cute but informative powerpoint to be presented
Phase 3: Execute private sale, start packaging ice cream (1 month) $60,000
- In Phases 1 and 2 we have done research on expectations of sale, now we do a private sale!
- We will do a private sale first to mitigate supply/demand shock
- We will commit to honoring ice cream slips for a specified # of years.
Goals of Phase 3:
- Private sale executed in the way it was agreed upon at the end of Phase 2
- Funds from the sale will be split between the Ice Cream Multisig and the OG team/community
Phase 4: Get in the flow/expand ecommerce site (3-6 months) $60,000-$120,000
- Rent location for convenient distribution and packaging
- Rent ice cream machines as needed for the selected flavors (having consulted in Phase 1)
- Continue fulfilling orders (this will be ultra time consuming for a period of time and many person-hours involved)
- Add new flavors for public sale
Goals for Phase 4:
- Fully furnished location in Hayward, CA built for Wassie Ice Cream flavors
- Orders are being fulfilled in a reasonable fashion.
- New flavors on public sale!
- A cute powerpoint
Phase 5: Physical development (6mo-2yr) $50,000-$400,000
I am based in Hayward California (Eastern bay area, by San Francisco), and prices are relatively low for retail space. Direct quotes here (external website). We could revitalize a portion of our community with a new hip Wassie Ice Cream shop! This could be just a pop up shop to wrap up the project or new beginnings!!
Goals for Phase 5:
- A fun place for Wassies to chat and play Wassie music
- A starting point of an empire...?
Estimated Timeline (required)

Phase 4: Get in the flow/expand ecommerce site (3-6 months) $60,000-$120,000
